Zebra cake
Recipe Ingredients
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 7 oz butter or margarine
- 5 eggs
- 2 cups sour cream
- 2.5-3 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 3-4 tablespoons cocoa
cream:
- 2 cups sour cream
- 1 cup sugar
glazing:
- 3.5 oz butter
- 5 tablespoons milk
- 6-7 tablespoons sugar
- 5 tablespoons cocoa
Preparation
Cream margarine with sugar.
Add eggs, sour cream and mix well.
Add baking powder, flour, and mix the dough that is not too thick.
Divide the dough into two parts. Add cocoa into one part and combine.
Grease the baking pan with butter (I have a pan that is 10”). Pour 1-2 tablespoons of light dough into the middle of the pan.
Pour 1-2 tablespoons of dark dough into the middle of the light dough. Then, pour 1-2 tablespoons of light dough in the middle of the dark one, then dark one – into light, etc.
Bake two layers this way. Bake them at 350F for 30 minutes. Check the layer readiness using a match. Punch the layer with a match. If it is dry, then the layer is ready.
To prepare the glazing, you need to melt the butter in a sauce pan, add milk, sugar, cocoa, bring to a boil and keep boiling until the mix starts thickening.
Beat the sour cream with sugar for the cream.
Grease the baked layers with cream. For the layers to soak the cream better, you can cut each layer horizontally into two parts, so you will have four layers as a result.
Pour glazing over the ready cake and decorate to taste.
Bon appétit!
