Sour cabbage soup
Recipe Ingredients
- 24.5 oz beef
- 10.5 oz sour cabbage
- 4-5 potatoes
- 2 carrots
- 2-3 onions
- root of parsley or parsnip
- salt
- pepper
- bay leaf
Preparation
The amount of ingredients is for a 1 gallon sauce pan.
Cut the meat into small pieces, add water and boil for 1 hour (remove the skimming)
Mince the onion.
Grate the carrot on a large grater.
Peel potatoes and cut into cubes or strips.
Sauté the onion and carrot in vegetable oil.
Add potatoes into the boiling broth. Boil for 5 minutes.
Add the cabbage (if the cabbage is too sour, rinse it in cold water). Boil for another 5 minutes.
Add sautéed onion and carrot. Add root of parsley or parsnip, pepper, bay leaf. Add salt if necessary. Cook until potatoes are ready.
