Easy Guacamole Recipe

Easy guacamole recipe that can be done in less than 5 minutes. An amazing apetizer or breakfast meal.

While I don’t always cook from scratch (for instance, I make Tiramisu with ladyfingers from the store), I NEVER buy guacamole or mayonnaise.

You can read my easy homemade mayonnaise recipe, if you are tired of eating the “factory” type and now let’s see how fast we can actually make our own super-tasty guacamole.

I first ate guacamole from Mercadona, a famous store in Spain, while visiting my sister-in-law. I personally hate avocado, so I’d never have the crazy idea of eating that in a meal, but the guacamole I ate there was AMAZING.

I even took a can back to Romania and devoured it in 10 minutes. Instead of waiting for another year to visit Spain again, I just read the ingredients and thought maybe I could make guacamole myself.

Which I did and it’s almost the only way I’d eat it, still. Daughter loves it, it’s a super-easy, even vegan recipe, great for our friends as well.

Guacamole Ingredients

Of course there are countless possible options for guacamole, this is MY way of making it. You can add more ingredients, take some out etc.

  • 4 large RIPE avocado fruits
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 onion
  • lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • a sprinkle of olive oil

This yields a pretty big portion of guacamole, ideal if you have 3-4 people eating it. When I cook for my daughter and self, the ingredients are usually halved.

We use lemon juice from half a lemon, it helps the avocado not get easily browned (oxidized) and it also gives the guacamole a bit of a nice taste.

Other cooks are also using pepper, jalapenos, bell peppers etc.

How to Make a Simple Guacamole Recipe

Always start with ripe avocado. If it’s not brown and soft, leave it for 2-3 days out, ideally in sunlight. Don’t make guacamole with avocado that’s not perfectly ripe, as it’s going to be a pain to mush and eat.

  • Cut the avocados in half, slighly rotate to break apart. Take the seeds out. With a spoon, take the pulp and then mash it in a bowl.
  • Add lemon juice and a pinch of salt.
  • Cut the onion finely and also mash the garlic.
  • Mix togeter and add a sprinkle of olive oil.

If you’re interested in getting a “kick”, add pepper and some minced jalapenos. If not, leave it as is and spread on a bread slice. Fight viciously all the others who want to eat your tasty guacamole 😀
